Our Book: Attracting and Retaining Top Talent in Times of Brexit

I'm very proud to announce that Benivo have published a thought leadership book called Attracting and Retaining Top Talent In Times of Brexit, with hands-on and best practice advice from 28 thought leaders across HR, Recruitment, and Global Mobility. We are giving away the first 250 copies for FREE- register here (free shipping, worldwide included).

With a foreword by Rajesh Agrawal, Deputy Mayor of London for Business, the book contains contributions from Google, Deloitte, KPMG, BDO, Arup, MediaCom, Indeed, Crown, Sirva, Santa Fe, Fragomen, Improbable, AIRINC, London Business School, and many more.

Why this book now?

UK employers report a 50% drop in the number of job applications from the EU-27. There is even a decrease from non-EU countries.

180,000 EU employees currently work in the UK technology sector, and yet there is still a skills shortage. Many UK-based companies agree that the impact of this lack of talent will likely result in delayed growth and a risk of losing out on innovations to competitors.

Multinationals with hubs in Europe are already looking to grow their centres outside of Britain. Many of them have been struggling to attract talent to the UK since the vote to leave the EU.

But it’s not only new immigration from the EU that is at risk. Brexit clearly had an emotional effect on non-Brits working in the UK, especially in London. The immediate reaction among many was:    If they don’t want me here, I might as well just leave. The UK must address these feelings and ensure people feel welcome. Otherwise, they will indeed leave.

It will take the UK government a minimum of 18-24 months to come up with and announce a new immigration policy. But UK businesses are facing a dramatic talent shortage already now. Clearly, a more immediate solution is needed.

That’s why we published this book.

We collected advice and best practices from 28 thought leaders in order to help UK employers attract and retain top talent in times of Brexit.

The advice ranges from emotional to legal, from strategic to operational. In any case, you learn what other companies are doing and how other leaders are thinking, and can hopefully find inspiration for how you lead your own business and people.

I would like to thank each of the contributors for their time and advice (full list in the comments).

Whether you voted Leave or Remain, or didn’t vote at all - this book is not taking a political stance. We are looking at the situation as it is. We want to find ways to get the best out of it, and to build a stronger UK economy.

I hope you find it useful.

Enjoy the Read!
